ABOUT THE CURATOR
Beatrice
Hulsberg , Curator
AT THE MUSEUM
I manage
the collection utilizing standard museum practices in collecting
and researching objects, negotiating loans to other institutions
and evaluating the conservation needs of the artifacts. As a curator,
I care for the artifacts in the collection: identifying, cataloguing,
researching – making sure that they are stored in the proper
materials and the correct manner so that future generations will
be able to see and learn from them.
One
area of research interest is the late eighteenth century decorated
conductor head, a funnel that joins the rain gutter of a roof to
the downspout. These were practical ordinary roofing objects that
people sometimes chose to enhance with designs of stars and eagles
in the early years of the republic.
