"Energy: Innovation and Impact" is the theme of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission's 2009 public awareness initiative, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of Edwin Drake's successful drilling for oil in Titusville, Venango County.

By examining the history of energy, we can better understand how choices made in the past have affected the present, and how the decisions we make today hold consequences for tomorrow.

The Industry and Technology Gallery showcases important artifacts associated with Pennsylvania over the past three centures. Its main exhibit, "Man and Machine," also offers an opportunity to explore the energy sources which fueled innovations in manufacturing and transportation.
