Welcome to GROOVE/chill @ The State Museum, a program designed to introduce new audiences to the State Museum of Pennsylvania. Over the course of the year, The State Museum plans to present a series of progressive music events intended to draw people in and provide new opportunities to explore the museum.
To kick-off the series, we’ve scheduled an event to coincide with the Central Pennsylvania Friends of Jazz “JazzWalk” on Thursday, May 29. “JazzWalk” places live music in as many venues as possible throughout the Downtown and Midtown area, encouraging both tourists and area residents to become part of Harrisburg’s growing music and street scene. The State Museum wants to be part of both. The inaugural GROOVE/chill “happening” features an hour-long performance by the New York based Gutbucket, an internationally acclaimed jazz-punk-improvised music ensemble followed by an artist’s reception in Memorial Hall.
Check back for information on future GROOVE/chill events. Remember, your support will make the next event possible. Sponsors of this inaugural event include: The Friends of The State Museum, Friends of Midtown and The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. Sponsorship opportunities are available for future GROOVE/chill events.
