2008 Volunteer Recognition
The State Museum of Pennsylvania recognizes two exemplary individuals for their generous contributions.

Donna Fisher

Donna Fisher served on the Board of the Friends of the State Museum since 1999. Serving as Vice-President since 2003. During that time she executed her duties as an officer and board member with distinction and has provided excellent advice and counsel to the organization on the many matters that have arisen.

In addition, during a very difficult time for the Friends, she took on, almost single-handedly, the major task of managing the Friends membership program and refining the mailing list.

During her tenure with the Friends, Donna served on program committees to produce many major events including 3 Holiday Tea programs, The Sights and Sounds of the Century, Mirror as well as several others.

Her sense of humor and ability to get things done in an efficient and effective manner benefited the Friends and The State Museum enormously. We thank Donna for her years of service and contributions that have truly made a difference.

Jonathan Kunkel

Jonathan Kunkel has served on the Board of the Friends of the State Museum since 1998, with the exception of the one year he rotated off the board in 2000. In addition to being on the Board, Jonathan served as president from 2004–2008. During his tenure as President, Jonathan served with distinction while leading the Friends through difficult financial times and major changes in the structure of the organization.

His leadership successfully guided the friends through strategic planning and setting new directions for the organization, while at the same time maintaining a rigorous program schedule that included two major events; Mirror and the 100th anniversary Gala and three Holiday Tea programs, Jazz Beneath the Stars and a special theatrical program Tea for Three.

He saw clearly the Friends community support of the Museum encouraged the Friends to sponsor the Museum through volunteering and contributions of money and materials for such programs as Night of the Great Pumpkin and the Volunteer Recognition programs.

Jonathan’s organizational skills, his ability to work with a wide variety of people and to do it all with poise and a sense of humor has made his presidency a success. We thank him for his years of service to the Friends and to the State Museum of Pennsylvania that have helped the Museum achieve its mission.
